Grants & End Of Season Gets Closer

BBC Sports Editor Dan Roan has reported that the Government are on the verge of announcing £10M in available grants for non-league clubs who play in Steps 3 through 6.

Support will be considered on a case-by-case basis and is expected to benefit around 850 clubs – none of whom have played a game for two months.

Elsewhere, National League clubs in Steps 1 and 2 are due to vote this week on whether they should scrap the remainder of their season with their financial support [£11M] only being made available in the form of low interest loans to cover expenses from January to March [2021], rather than grants.

66 of member clubs have already stated that they will not accept loans, putting the continuation of the season at that level in severe doubt.

With the number of clubs who would be willing to continue the season without income being very low, it is expected that it will simply be unviable to complete the season.
