George Back For 2020-21

Shrivenham Football Club have completed the signing of Development player George Hegg for the 2020-21 season.

The central defender arrived at Barrington Park from neighbours Faringdon Town ahead of last season and went on to make 12 appearances and captained the side in 8 of those games and was keen to return for 2020-21.

“I really enjoyed last season with the team we had I really felt like we could’ve finished really strong, unfortunately Covid stopped that, but non the less, it was a really good season,” he told shrivenhafc.co.uk on completing his registration form.

“For me, coming back was never in doubt with the new managers that Matt [Hirst – club Chairman] had put in place.

“I think from pre-season, all the lads can really tell that the levels have been stepped up in terms of what we are doing and the intensity that we are doing it at and I’m really looking forwards to getting this season going, whenever that may be.”

George is the fourth player to commit to the club ahead of the new season after Brad Hirst, Tyger Hall and Matthew Goldfinch all put pen to paper earlier in the week.

Speaking about the returning player, joint Development Manager Glenn Horsell said:  “It’s great to have George back with us again.

“I thought he was excellent with the younger squad players last season, giving them encouragement and keeping the moral up in the team after defeats.

“For me, having players like George around the group makes my job a lot easier.”

Welcome back to SN6 for a second successive campaign George, we’re looking forwards to seeing you return to action.
