Changes At Shrivvy

After 31-years of service, Matt Hirst has decided to step down from the Chairman’s role at the club.

Matt first sat on the Committee in 1991 where he joined in order to help raise some much needed funds.

“In those days that’s what players used to do,” he told shrivenhamfc.co.uk on announcing his decision.

Since then, Matt has been ever present at meetings and following a four-year spell as Vice Chairman, he took over the Chairman role where he has remained for the last five seasons.

Although he is stepping down from that role, Matt isn’t done with the club just yet and has confirmed that he will move in to more of an advisory role from 2022-23 and continue to get involved on Game Day’s.

“I’ll still be about doing bits and supporting the boys,” he continued.

“My work-life is very different these days and I want to focus on rebuilding following Covid.”

Matt’s replacement will be Dave Donovan who has been around the club as a supporter and main club sponsor for a number of seasons and Dave has retained the services of all the current management team and coaches, bar one – Elliott Day.

Elliot will be replaced by Dan Gough – a hugely experienced and excellent coach.

Dan joins the First Team management and will play a massive part in getting the players ready for the 2022-23 campaign and the club thank Elliott for his dedication while serving at Barrington Park, and wish him all the best for the future.

We also welcome Dan to our corner of Oxfordshire and look forward to seeing him at work with the senior side once pre-season gets underway.

We can confirm that Kev Hegg will remain as Vice Chairman while Steve Hall continues to steer the club financially in his Treasurer role and Val Clinch remains at the club as Welfare Officer.
