PREVIEW | Holmer Green vs Shrivenham

Shrivenham will go in search of their first league win in over a month tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to Holmer Green for the first time in a Pinpoint Marketing sponsored fixture, kick off 3pm.

Without a league win since September 4, Gareth Davies men face a 57 mile journey to Buckinghamshire tomorrow afternoon, to take on Chris Allen’s seventh placed side in what will certainly be another tough test.

While Shrivvy’s points return may not have matched the sides overall performances this season, manger Gareth Davies has moved to strengthen his options following the disappointing exit from the FA Vase and six points thrown away against Abingdon United and then Brimscombe & Thrupp in recent weeks, but despite a comfortable if unassured win over Uhlsport League One East side Long Crendon last weekend, you can’t help but feel that things are not far off clicking in to place.

Holmer Green enter the game in 7th place in the standings which is the highest placement of any of this seasons “new boys” in the league, with 16 points from 11 games, however they do enter the fixture on the back of three straight defeats [6-0 away at Wantage Town, 1-2 at home against Tuffley Rovers and 1-0 away at Abingdon Town].

Jamie West is the club’s current top goal scorer with 4 from 10 games, while Dean Munday is only just behind him with 3 from 13.

Jonathan Cox is the player leading the sides’ appearance chart, with 14 games so far this season.

Jamie Britnell is the only player to have seen red so far this term, with 1 (and 1 yellow), while Curtis Stone has 3 of the sides 16 yellow cards to date.

As already mentioned, Holmer Green enter the fixture on the back of three straight defeats, however this is their longest losing run of the season so will be expecting to bounce back and snap the run before it gets any longer.

On average, our hosts score 1.07 goals every game and concede 1.57.
